At a Florida health facility, there was a concern about undulations in the vertical concrete panels installed on particular elevations and the construction manager suspected remediation work may be required.

Since deviation analysis is a proven method for assessing the accuracy and quality of diverse physical objects, executives partnered with Coast 2 Coast to collect the necessary data. Field technicians utilized a Faro 3D laser scanner to capture the undulations in the concrete. thickness. Our in-house team used specialized software as a diagnostic tool to analyze the point cloud data and generated deviation reports, similar to a heat map.

The severity of the undulations in concrete thickness was clearly seen in the colors indicating the median thickness as well as where the thickness. Variations as much as 2” in either direction were reported, proving that the structure exceeded the ¾” per ten-foot allowance.
