Using advanced laser scanning methods, the Coast 2 Coast team captured ornate historic details of Washington National Cathedral.

The Coast 2 Coast team played a vital role in the research phase of the restoration project for a historical landmark building. Since the building was a historical landmark, the city’s approval was required before the project could start. To move the project forward, it was critical to document the existing conditions precisely and demonstrate the feasibility of proposed modifications. The Reality Capture deliverables, including a virtual tour of the unified point cloud, AutoCAD drawings, a 3D Revit Model, and rendered animation, were essential tools for analyzing, developing, and presenting renovation strategies. Coast 2 Coast technicians used a methodology specific to historic spaces to capture the ornate architectural styling and accurately document the footprint, elevations, and site topography. This freed the design team to focus on how to preserve exterior building details and make the necessary modifications.
